Team News: Javier Hernandez left out by Mexico

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is left on the bench by Mexico for their World Cup opener against Cameroon, with Giovanni dos Santos preferred in attack.

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has been left out of the Mexico starting lineup for their opening World Cup Group A game against Cameroon in Natal.

Instead, Miguel Herrera has chosen prolific domestic goalscorer Oribe Peralta and former Tottenham Hotspur misfit Giovanni dos Santos as his forward pair.

Elsewhere, Herrera opts for experience, with goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa getting the nod in between the posts and Rafael Marquez continuing his international renaissance at centre-back.

Current Spurs player Benoit Assou-Ekotto starts at left-back in a Cameroon side which is spearheaded by the country's all-time leading goalscorer, Samuel Eto'o, who will be supported by Mainz youngster Choupo Moting.

Barcelona's Alex Song forms a central midfield three alongside Sevilla's loanee from Queens Park Rangers, Stephane Mbia, and Eyong Enoh, who spent half a season with Fulham in the Premier League.
