Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has insisted that Wayne Rooney would regret leaving Old Trafford this summer.
Rooney's future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months, despite new manager David Moyes's insistence that the striker will not be sold.
Vidic has urged Rooney to reject offers from elsewhere and commit his long-term future to United, following his example to stay with a club he believes cannot be rivalled.
He told The Mirror: "I believe Man United is the biggest club in the world and I think there's no point to go anywhere.
"There's so much speculation, so much talk about whether he'll leave or stay. He's at the best club in the world. I have to say the last four years I was in that position as well. People were talking about me leaving the club.
"I'm still here and I'm enjoying playing for this club. Nothing has changed."
Rooney was absent yesterday as Vidic skippered United to their first piece of silverware under Moyes, beating Wigan Athletic 2-0 at Wembley in the Community Shield.
