Donny van de Beek has reportedly told his Ajax teammates that he is joining Manchester United.
The 23-year-old was left out of his team's two friendlies against Eintracht Frankfurt and Union Berlin at the weekend as the speculation surrounding his future continued to gather pace.
Barcelona have been strongly linked with the Netherlands international, but according to Sport, the midfielder has told his Ajax teammates that he is heading for Old Trafford.
The report claims that the Dutchman is expected to travel to England next week to officially join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team on a long-term contract.
Van de Beek, thought to be valued at £50m by Erik ten Hag's side, enjoyed an impressive 2019-20 at club level, contributing 10 goals and 11 appearances in 37 appearances in all competitions.
United also continue to be linked with Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho but seemingly face an uphill battle to sign the England international before the transfer window closes at the start of October.
