Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur compete for 18-year-old German Fabian Speiss.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly competing for the signature of 18-year-old Notts County goalkeeper Fabian Speiss.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is known to be in the market for a long-term replacement for 40-year-old Brad Friedel, while United's Spanish summer signing David de Gea has yet to fully convince critics since arriving from Atletico Madrid.

Sir Alex Ferguson has sent scouts to watch the German stopper, according to The Sun.

Speiss, who has yet to make his debut for the Magpies, has been playing for non-league Lewes this season.
