Manchester United and Manchester City are understood to be fighting for the chance to give 16-year-old Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile his first professional deal.
The youngster, who is yet to sign a contract, has been touted as a future star by his current employers and could be snapped up by a European club before the transfer window closes.
According to Foot Mercato, United and City are leading the way for the Frenchman, but will be tested in their efforts by fellow European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
The report adds that the interest from around the continent has stemmed from Badiashile's impressive performances in Monaco's youth teams.
United and City have already been busy in the January transfer window, with Jose Mourinho's side signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal while the Citizens are reportedly close to signing Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.
