West Ham United have reportedly made significant progress on a potential deal for Ajax's Mohammed Kudus.
The Ghana international's future has been the subject of much speculation this summer, with a number of clubs believed to have expressed an interest in signing him.
Manchester United and Arsenal are both believed to be admirers, while Brighton & Hove Albion have also been heavily linked with his services during the transfer window.
However, recent reports have claimed that West Ham are in the driving seat for the attacker.
According to The Sun, the Hammers are now closing in on a £40m deal, with the club's technical director Tim Steidten making the trip to the Netherlands for discussions.
Kudus was in strong form for Ajax during the 2022-23 campaign, finding the back of the net on 18 occasions in 42 appearances in all competitions, in addition to contributing seven assists.
The forward also scored in his side's 2023-24 Eredivisie opener against Heracles last weekend, but he is expected to be on the move before the end of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are now on the verge of securing the signature of Galatasaray attacker Nicolo Zaniolo.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding the 24-year-old's future this summer, with a number of clubs believed to be keen to secure his signature.
However, Villa have seemingly won the race for Zaniolo, with Romano claiming on Thursday evening that the Italian was heading for England to pen a contract with Unai Emery's side.
The journalist claims that the medical examinations have already been completed, with an official announcement from the Premier League club now imminent.
Zaniolo started his professional career with Virtus Estella before moving to Inter Milan, but he did not make a single appearance for the San Siro giants and ultimately moved to Roma in 2018.
After 128 appearances for Roma, the attacker joined Galatasaray in February, and he has scored five times and registered one assist in 12 appearances for the Turkish giants in all competitions.

Elsewhere, Wolverhampton Wanderers are allegedly interested in signing Burnley midfield Josh Brownhill before the end of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old was only a late substitute in his side's 3-0 loss to Manchester City on the opening night of the 2023-24 Premier League campaign.
Brownhill's contract at Turf Moor is due to expire next June, which has led to a host of speculation surrounding his future heading into the latter stages of the transfer market.
According to TEAMtalk, Wolves have a long-standing interest in the midfielder and are weighing up a move.
However, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Everton and Leicester City are also believed to be admirers of the versatile midfielder.
Brownhill was a vital player for Burnley during their 2022-23 Championship title-winning campaign, scoring seven goals and registering eight assists in 41 appearances in the competition.
