Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim says that summer departures are inevitable amid fresh speculation surrounding Alejandro Garnacho's future.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has said that summer departures at Old Trafford are inevitable, with the Red Devils expected to make sweeping changes in order to be able to boost their squad for the 2025-26 campaign.

The English club's financial situation means that players will need to depart before new ones can arrive, with stringent financial regulations in place.

Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans are all set to leave Man United on free transfers, while Mason Mount, Casemiro, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Antony are among those being linked with departures.

Amorim has said that changes will occur, with Man United hoping to sign a new centre-forward, while a central midfielder is also expected to be a priority for the Red Devils during the summer transfer market.

Amorim insists Man United changes are inevitable this summer

"We can talk about that in the end [of the season] because it's hard... we have a lot of games still to play and talk about and but that is clear. And I think that is not a difficult situation because everybody understands that in football, sometimes you stay, sometimes you have to move on," Amorim told reporters.

"If you know how to explain it, for me, it is easy. If I know how to explain, I can do it and I like to do it because I want to be clear. When I was a player also, because I like to use all that experience.

"When you are honest with someone, in the beginning it is hard, but they will understand. So, I'm quite honest with my players and they already know that sometimes they have to move on at the end of the season."

When asked whether he fully understood the extent of the club's financial problems before taking the job at Old Trafford, Amorim said: "That is hard... I knew the situation but then it's hard because your procession in the same situation as me can be different so it's hard to say if they are honest or not.

"I felt they were honest, but I need to see things and feel things myself. So, it's always a different opinion in that matter. I knew the situation, I knew that it was a risk but we are surviving and doing everything. I think today is really hard, I know, but this is going to help us in the future, I hope. So, we will see."

Could Garnacho leave Man United this summer?

Garnacho is one player currently being heavily linked with a move away from Man United.

The Argentina international's status as a home-grown player means that the Red Devils will listen to offers for him this summer, and Barcelona are the latest club to allegedly express an interest in his services.

Napoli and Chelsea are also believed to be considering reigniting their interest this summer, and it is thought to be possible that Garnacho will leave despite the 20-year-old being one of the club's best attacking talents.

Garnacho again hit the headlines when he reacted angrily to being substituted against Ipswich Town in the Premier League last week, but he is expected to be in the squad for Sunday's FA Cup clash with Fulham, providing that he overcomes a knock.
