Former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson believes that Wayne Rooney will still be at the club next season.

Former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson has claimed that he expects Wayne Rooney to still be at the club next season.

The England striker is understood to have recently put in a transfer request as he seeks a move away from Old Trafford.

However, Robson hopes that new United manager David Moyes convinces Rooney that he is still wanted by the Premier League champions.

"I'm not convinced he will go," he told the Times of India. "If I were in David Moyes's shoes, one of the first things I'd be doing is sitting Wayne down and telling him what an important player he can be for United for the next four or five years.

"I would tell Wayne what my plans were for the future of United and how he fits in with those plans. I would be doing all I could to make sure Wayne stays at United."

Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are among a number of clubs that have been linked with summer moves for Rooney.
