A report claims that versatile Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier is back on the radar of Manchester United, who are plotting a £55m summer bid.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly refusing to admit defeat in his attempt to sign Eric Dier from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils fell short in their attempt to sign the England international early in Mourinho's Old Trafford reign and have since turned their attention elsewhere.

With another busy summer of transfer activity expected at United, though, Transfermarketweb claims that Mourinho will renew his interest in Dier by tabling a £55m bid.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reluctant to sell any players to a direct rival, but United are said to be confident that their big opening offer will at least allow them to negotiate.

Versatile Dier, under contract with Tottenham until 2021, is seen as a replacement for the soon-to-retire Michael Carrick.
