Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly added Dani Alves to a list of potential transfer targets ahead of the summer window.
Van Gaal recently indicated that the club had made all of the decisions about recruitment and departures, and adding defensive options is believed to be a priority after a fourth-placed finish.
Alves is set to leave Barcelona on a free transfer after the Champions League final, and the Brazilian full-back has already been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
According to The Telegraph, Van Gaal would prefer to sign Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne, but he would be willing to turn to Alves should he fail with a move for the England international.
Schalke's Benedikt Howedes, who can play in central defence or at right-back, is also reported to be a target.
