Real Madrid eye Villarreal's Pau Torres as Sergio Ramos replacement?

Villarreal defender Pau Torres reportedly emerges as a potential replacement for Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid if the club captain decides to leave the Bernabeu.

Villarreal defender Pau Torres has reportedly emerged as a potential replacement for Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid.

Ramos, 34, has been linked with an exit from the Bernabeu and has recently rejected a new contract offer from the club this month.

Marca reports that Los Blancos will move for a central defender in the summer if their captain were to leave the club and have identified Torres as one of their main targets.

Real Madrid are keen to hold onto Ramos and hope that he can agree to sign a new contract soon, but will have to look at other targets elsewhere if the Spaniard wishes to move on.

Torres, who turns 24 on January 16, was born in Villarreal and has been in the club's youth system since he was five years old. The defender has made over 60 appearances for the Yellow Submarine since making his senior debut in 2016.

The Spaniard, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, has recently played alongside Ramos for the national team over the last year, making seven appearances under Spain boss Luis Enrique.
