Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen could join UAE side Al Shabab, according to reports.

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen is reportedly in talks with UAE side Al Shabab over a possible transfer.

The 32-year-old is a free agent after departing United at the end of the season, and it had been suggested that he would stay in the Premier League.

However, Shabab have confirmed via Twitter that they are in talks with the Englishman: "Michael Owen has been identified as a candidate to play for Shabab next season and we are in negotiations with his management team. The player's agent is in Dubai to close the deal."

Owen has suffered with a series of injuries in recent seasons.
