Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that the club have activated a 12-month extension in Paul Pogba's contract.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the club have activated a 12-month extension in Paul Pogba's contract at Old Trafford.

The midfielder's deal with the 20-time English champions had been due to expire next summer, meaning that, in theory, he could agree a pre-contract with a foreign club in January.

However, speaking at his press conference ahead of Saturday's clash with Newcastle United, the United manager revealed that a 12-month extension until June 2022 has been activated.

Pogba recently revealed that he 'dreams' of playing for Real Madrid, but the World Cup winner will be remaining with the Red Devils for at least the next two years, according to Solskjaer.

"Paul's our player, he's going to be here for another two years," Solskjaer told reporters. "I'm sure Paul is focused on doing his best for us and we want to see the best of Paul and I'm sure in the next couple of years we'll get the best out of him."

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Pogba would have joined Juventus over the summer if the coronavirus outbreak had not occurred.
