Manchester United legend Gary Neville insists that Odion Ighalo is not worth £20m as he warns Manchester United against overspending on the striker.

Gary Neville has warned former club Manchester United to think twice about signing Odion Ighalo for £20m.

The Nigerian striker has impressed during his short time on loan at Old Trafford and is eager to stay on until at least the end of the season.

However, Ighalo's parent club Shanghai Shenhua have the right to recall their player next month ahead of the start of the Chinese Super League season.

Shenhua have reportedly told United to pay £20m if they wish to sign the 30-year-old on a permanent basis, but Neville does not believe that would represent good value for money in the current market.

"Is Ighalo worth £20m? Probably not in this market," he said during an Instagram live session. "He may have been if he continued before scoring goals but you probably don't need now to spend £20m."

Newcastle United are rumoured to be eyeing up a move for Ighalo, who has scored four times in eight appearances for Man Utd since joining in January.
