Manchester United and Manchester City reportedly intend to launch an approach for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez later in 2020.
The 25-year-old has spent all but a season of his professional career at Atletico, scoring 38 goals from 284 appearances in all competitions.
However, despite the Spaniard having a contract until 2026, it has been suggested that the La Liga outfit may consider selling Saul in the summer.
According to reports in Spain, United and City continue to monitor the situation ahead of making a bid for the player.
While Atletico allegedly value Saul in the region of €150m (£141.22m), the two Premier League giants are likely to want to negotiate that asking price.
United may view Saul as a replacement for Paul Pogba, while City boss Pep Guardiola will make changes to his squad after a below-par Premier League campaign.
