Manchester United would be willing to sell Eric Bailly for less than £10m this summer amid interest from Roma, according to a report.

Manchester United would reportedly be willing to sell Eric Bailly for less than £10m during this summer's transfer window, with Roma showing a strong interest in the centre-back.

Lisandro Martinez's recent arrival from Ajax means that Bailly is likely to be only the fifth-choice centre-back at Old Trafford next season, with Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof also ahead of him in the pecking order, while Phil Jones was preferred to the Ivorian in the latter stages of last season.

Bailly has featured heavily in Man United's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, which saw them take on Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

However, it is believed that the 28-year-old is available for transfer this summer, with Fulham and Napoli both recently credited with an interest.

According to The Mirror, Roma are also keen on the Ivory Coast international, and Jose Mourinho's side have now stepped up their interest in the defender.

The report claims that Bailly is likely to be available for less than £10m, with Man United keen to move players on before the end of the transfer window.

The centre-back only made seven appearances for the Red Devils during the 2021-22 campaign, with just four of those outings coming in the Premier League.

Bailly still has another two years left to run on his deal at Old Trafford, with the option of a further 12 months, having only signed a contract extension last April.

The former Espanyol youngster has made 113 appearances for Man United since arriving from Villarreal in July 2016, meanwhile, contributing one goal and one assist in the process.

Bailly has had encouraging spells in the side and made 38 appearances during his first season at the club but fitness problems have cost him the chance to hold down a spot in the side.

The defender has only played 20 times in the Premier League over the last three campaigns, but Roma boss Mourinho is said to be confident that he could become a vital player for the Italian side.

Axel Tuanzebe and Jones are also believed to be available for transfer this summer, while there has also been speculation surrounding the futures of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Alex Telles.

Tyrell Malacia has arrived this summer to provide competition for Luke Shaw at left-back, with Telles being used out of position in central defence and central midfield on the club's pre-season tour.

Bailly will now travel with the Man United squad back to Europe, as the 20-time English champions prepare for their final two friendlies of the summer against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano next weekend.
