David Beckham's new MLS franchise Inter Miami confirm talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

David Beckham's new MLS side Inter Miami have confirmed that they have held talks over a shock move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season and handed in a transfer request earlier this month, prompting interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.

The French champions have so far refused to budge on their £25m valuation of the Uruguayan, however, with Atletico's offer of £15m believed to be the top bid submitted so far.

Inter Miami will make their MLS debut on March 1 and have been linked with ambitious moves for the likes of Sergio Aguero, David Silva and now Cavani in recent months.

Speaking to Sky Sports News about Cavani, club co-owner Jorge Mas said: "We have had conversations about Cavani, but I don't want to make any comments further than that based on that he is a PSG player at the time.

"We have two of our designated spots open so we'll see where this ends up. A lot of it depends on the window closing on Friday so we'll see what happens.

"We'll have a great roster irrespective of our top five choices or not. We'll be bringing a great team to the south of Florida."

While the European transfer window closes tonight, MLS clubs are free to sign players from February 12 until May 5.
