Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Santiago Canizares has called on Los Blancos to complete a deal for Manchester United's David de Gea.
De Gea is said to be keen on a move to the Bernabeu this summer, but United are refusing to sell unless Sergio Ramos moves in the opposite direction.
The stopper is expected to arrive in Spain either this summer or next, and Canizares believes that Real Madrid need the 22-year-old "to win titles and games".
"[Kiko] Casilla is a good goalkeeper in certain conditions , but obviously he's not at De Gea's level. De Gea is who Madrid need to win titles and games," Canizares told the International Business Times.
"De Gea is perfect for Madrid. [Manchester United] want to renew his contract but haven't, and next year he's free. He's a goalkeeper of international standard, one of the best in the world.
"The goal at Santiago Bernabeu is the same size as other places but many people find it too big. That's why you have to appreciate Iker Casillas' career. De Gea has the personality for Madrid."
Canizares, who retired from professional football in 2008 after 10 years at Valencia, represented Real Madrid for two stints during his career.
