Team News: Wayne Rooney back for Manchester United against Southampton

Wayne Rooney returns from injury to start for Manchester United in their Premier League clash against Southampton.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has returned to the side for this evening's Premier League match against Southampton.

The forward missed last week's 2-1 victory over Stoke City, but is back to join Robin van Persie in the attack.

Juan Mata and Ashley Young keep their places in the midfield, while Paddy McNair is drafted into the defence.

Meanwhile, Southampton have made a couple of changes to their side following their defeat against Arsenal.

Maya Yoshida and Sadio Mane return to the starting XI in place of Toby Alderweireld and Jack Cork.

Southampton: Forster, Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Bertrand, Wanyama, S. Davis, Tadic, Mane, Long, Pelle
Subs: K. Davis, Gardos, Mayuka, Isgrove, Reed, Targett, Hesketh

Man Utd: De Gea, McNair, Smalling, Rojo, Valencia, Carrick, Fellaini, Young, Mata, Rooney, van Persie
Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Herrera, Fletcher, Januzaj, Wilson, Falcao
