Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny insists that the team bears no scars from August's 8-2 defeat to Manchester United.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has insisted that the team bears no "scars" from their 8-2 mauling against Manchester United earlier in the season.

The two teams go head-to-head at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, with the Gunners 15 points off the Premier League summit.

Despite the heavy defeat in August, Szczesny has claimed that the team will not be out for revenge.

"We lost badly to United earlier in the season but there are no scars from that game," the 21-year-old told the Evening Standard.

"We had plenty of injuries at Old Trafford, we had played away at Udinese [in the Champions League] so we had a lot of things to deal with going into that game. We were not able to perform at our best for many reasons.

"We don't see any element of revenge for what happened. We just want to pick up three points and climb up the table because we don't deserve to be where we are."

Arsenal could again be struck with injuries for Sunday's visit of United as 11 first-team players are doubtful for the match.
