Saudi Prince Mohamed bin Salman could make an attempt to buy Manchester United, according to a report.

Saudi Prince Mohamed bin Salman is reportedly considering making an attempt to buy Manchester United.

Bin Salman was strongly linked with a potential Newcastle United takeover last month, but according to the Shields Gazette, interest in the Magpies has cooled.

The report claims that the Saudis could now turn their attentions to the 20-time English champions, who are regarded as 'a Premier League jewel in the crown, rather than relegation contenders'.

United - owned by the Glazer family - are believed to be valued in the region of £3bn.

Bin Salman was reportedly prepared to pay £3.5bn for the Red Devils 18 months ago but was informed by the Glazers that they were not open to offers at any price.

The English giants have struggled for success since influential manager Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013, failing to win the Premier League title since the Scot's last season in charge.

United will be looking to book their spot in the last-16 stage of the Europa League when they welcome Belgian side Club Brugge to Old Trafford for the second leg of their last-32 clash on Thursday night.
