Report: Jose Mourinho rules out Ryan Giggs staying Manchester United assistant

Jose Mourinho reportedly rules out keeping Ryan Giggs as assistant manager at Manchester United due to fears that the Welshman will try to take his job.

Jose Mourinho reportedly has no intention of keeping Ryan Giggs as his assistant manager at Manchester United due to fears that the Welshman will try to take his job.

The 42-year-old worked as right-hand man to David Moyes during the Scotsman's 10-month spell in charge, and was assistant coach to Louis van Gaal for the last two seasons.

Giggs has openly expressed a desire to become United manager in the future, with many suggesting that he was a contender to replace Van Gaal, but the club opted to give the job to the former Chelsea boss.

Since Mourinho's appointment, Giggs's future has been up in the air, and now according to The Times, Mourinho will not appoint the club legend as his assistant boss because he fears that his job could be challenged.

The report adds that Mourinho demands complete loyalty from his backroom team, and is concerned about Giggs given that the Welshman has publicly claimed that he wants to one day take charge of the Red Devils.

Giggs, who won 35 trophies including 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League crowns, is expected to leave United after an almost 30-year association with the club.
