Gary Neville claims that Arsenal's 1997/98 title-winning side were the best Gunners side he faced.

Gary Neville has claimed that Arsenal's 2003/04 title-winning side was not the best Gunners team he came up against during his career.

The league champions of seven years ago were dubbed 'The Invincibles' after going the whole campaign without suffering a defeat.

However, the former Manchester United full-back believes that Arsene Wenger's champions of 1997/98 were a better team.

"I know the 'Arsenal Invincibles' of 2003/04 can claim their own unique place in the record books, and they were mesmerising to watch," Neville said in his autobiography.

"But, if it's not perverse to say this of a team that went the whole season unbeaten, you always felt you had a chance against that Arsenal side because you could get about them, bully them.

"I couldn't say that about Wenger's first champions. They were the best domestic team we came up against in my time at United."

Neville retired in February of this year.
