David Moyes targets league improvement

David Moyes is confident that Manchester United can start to close the 13-point gap to Arsenal.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has admitted that his side must start to improve in the Premier League if they are to remain in the title race.

United are currently 13 points behind leaders Arsenal, but Moyes said that catching them should be used as motivation and not as a reason to give up.

"We want to play well," he told BBC Sport. "We've not done as well in the league as we should have. We want to put it right. We'll do everything possible to get closer. We've got a lot of games coming up and can pick up points. But we need to do it, not talk about it.

"We see it as an opportunity. There is a long way to go but we can only take one game at a time.

"Football is like that. Let's see what happens come later in the season. Maybe we can talk about it then. At moment we can't talk about it because we are too far away, but we want to get closer and we will do everything we possibly can to do that."

The Red Devils travel to Aston Villa on Sunday following two consecutive home defeats.
