Manchester United have denied reports that representatives of the club recently held talks with Pep Guardiola in Paris.
The Bayern Munich boss, who will leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season, has been open about his desire to join a Premier League club.
Manchester City have been heavily linked with the Spaniard, but French journalist Thierry Marchand recently stated on TV show L'Equipe du Soir that United officials spoke with Guardiola at the Hotel Bristol in the capital of France.
United, though, have rejected the claim, insisting that they did not meet with the 45-year-old, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The club's current manager Louis van Gaal has come under fire at times this season, but the team remain in the hunt for a Champions League spot as they are fifth in the Premier League table, two points off fourth and seven behind leaders Arsenal.
