Manchester United face equalling an unwanted club record in the Premier League era should they make it two defeats from two when they face Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester United could equal an unwanted Premier League record during this afternoon's meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side go into the game off the back of a 3-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace in their season opener last weekend, with former player Wilfried Zaha coming back to haunt them at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils now face the prospect of losing their opening two league games of a season for just the second time in the Premier League era, and the first since the inaugural campaign in 1992-93.

United did go on to win the title that year, but another defeat today could leave them already nine points off the early pace-setters, albeit with a game in hand.

The 20-time champions have failed to win their first away game of a league campaign in both of the past two seasons, including a visit to Brighton in 2018-19.

The Seagulls, meanwhile, have won three games in a row across all competitions by an aggregate scoreline of 9-0.
