Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson insists his side will not get complacent after opening up a 15-point gap at the top of the Premier League table.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has warned his side not to get complacent after opening up a 15-point gap at the top of the table.

A goal from Wayne Rooney secured all three points in a 1-0 win over Reading on Saturday to put United on course for a 20th league title.

While admitting that his side have had "a great season", the Scot also insisted that his side will stay focused and not take their lead for granted.

"People can say what they like," said Ferguson. "You don't get points or medals for being complacent and we won't be.

"It has been a great season for us, most of the time we have been playing well and obviously today doesn't reflect the 15 points ahead we are, it is the previous six months."

United travel to Sunderland for their next Premier League encounter.
