Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he expects Ezekiel Fryers to begin pre-season training with Manchester United.
The 19-year-old's contract at Old Trafford expired at the end of last season and he has so far failed to reach an agreement with the club over an extension.
That was believed to have alerted Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, both of whom are said to be interested in adding the versatile defender to their squads this summer.
However, despite admitting that he has heard nothing from Fryers, Ferguson saw no reason for the England youth international not to attend training this morning.
"We haven't heard anything from Zeki Fryers," the boss told MUTV. "I don't know what's happening there but he's not been in touch with the club.
"His agent hasn't been in touch with the club and I can only assume he'll be back for training today."
Fryers has made six senior appearances for the Red Devils.
