Alex Ferguson says Anders Lindegaard will not replace David de Gea in goal for Manchester United against Chelsea on Sunday.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has brushed off any suggestions that Anders Lindegaard will start in goal ahead of David de Gea against Chelsea on Sunday.

Lindegaard earned the plaudits after making a string of saves during his side's 1-1 draw against Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday.

"David de Gea will play on Sunday," Ferguson told ITV. "That was the understanding we had before the game. I don't know why you ask these questions. You are just looking for stupid, little things."

United's next Champions League match is at home to Basle on Tuesday, September 27.
