Everton players react to David Moyes departure

Current and former Everton players react to the news that manager David Moyes will leave the club and is poised to join Manchester United.

A number of current and former Everton players have paid tribute to David Moyes following the announcement that the Scotsman will leave the club at the end of the season.

The Merseyside outfit have confirmed that the 50-year-old will end his tenure at the Premier League outfit due to his "desire" to take charge at Manchester United.

Moyes has been heavily tipped to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford following the 71-year-old's decision to retire in the summer.

While United are yet to officially confirm Moyes's appointment, it is understood that it is just a matter of time before an official announcement is made.

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who has himself been at the centre of transfer speculation, wrote on Twitter: "Many thanks coach..."

Defender Sylvain Distin also took to the social network website to write: "Wait, he might change his mind... Amazing challenge for him but I would have preferred to keep him with us."

Former Toffees striker James Vaughan added: "So David Moyes to United! Be a massive loss to Everton but wish him all the best at United!"

Moyes leaves the Merseyside club after a decade.
