Manchester United accidentally announce via their Facebook page that they have appointed Everton boss David Moyes as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor.

Manchester United have accidentally let it slip that they are poised to appoint David Moyes as the club's new manager.

The Everton boss has been heavily tipped to take the reins at Old Trafford following Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to retire at the end of the season, leaving a 26-year illustrious career behind.

While the Merseyside outfit have announced that Moyes will leave the club in the summer due to his "desire" to join United, the Red Devils are yet to confirm any appointment.

While there has been no official word from United, an image on the club's official Facebook page was displayed showing the hashtag #Unitedcontinued and a message saying, "send your personal welcome to our new manager David Moyes".

The post was swiftly taken down before Everton announced Moyes's intention to leave the club after a decade.
