Antonio Conte takes swipe at Jose Mourinho for 'underestimating' Victor Moses

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte takes aim at Jose Mourinho for 'underestimating' Victor Moses.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has aimed a dig at his predecessor Jose Mourinho for 'underestimating' Victor Moses's quality.

The 25-year-old has thrived in his new position as a wing-back after Conte switched to a 3-4-3 formation, and since doing so, the Blues have won their last six Premier League games without conceding a goal.

Moses became a Chelsea player in 2012 when he signed from Wigan Athletic, and was given minutes under managers Roberto Di Matteo, Rafael Benitez and Guus Hiddink, but he did not get a look in during Mourinho's second spell at Stamford Bridge.

The Nigeria international was sent out on loan to Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United during Mourinho's stint, which ended in December last year.

The Portuguese coach, who is now the Manchester United manager, may not have deemed Moses an important member of the Chelsea team, but Conte has a different viewpoint.

"I could see his potential from the first days of the summer training camp," the Italian coach told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Moses has important qualities: technique, physical strength, the ability to cover 70m of the pitch.

"I find it incredible that someone like him has been underestimated."

Chelsea are currently at the top of the league table, with just three points separating first and fourth.
