Manchester United will look to avoid their worst home losing year since 1989 when they host Manchester City on Saturday.

Manchester United will be looking to avoid their worst home losing year since 1989 when they welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford for the Manchester derby on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils will enter the Premier League contest off the back of a 2-2 draw with Atalanta BC in the Champions League on Tuesday night, which followed a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the league.

However, Man United have lost seven home matches in all competitions in 2021, which is their most since 2001, when they were also beaten on seven occasions.

The 20-time English champions have not lost more than seven home fixtures in a single year since 1989 - eight - and will be looking to avoid matching that number when they host Pep Guardiola's side.

Indeed, Man City, Sheffield United, Leicester City, Liverpool (twice), West Ham United and Aston Villa have all won at Old Trafford this year in either the league or League Cup.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are currently fifth in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Chelsea but just three points behind third-placed Man City.
