Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggests that Alexis Sanchez may have suffered knee ligament damage in Saturday's Premier League win over Southampton.

Manchester United caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer acknowledges that Alexis Sanchez may be sidelined with a knee injury for the foreseeable future.

Sanchez featured in the starting lineup as United faced Southampton on Saturday afternoon, but the Chilean was forced off early in the second half after a coming together in the penalty area.

The forward was in visible discomfort, and Solskjaer has suggested that the player may have suffered ligament damage.

The Norwegian is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "We don't know yet. He got a knock on his knee. It might be his ligaments. We'll do the scan tomorrow.

"Hopefully, it won't be too bad but we won't know until we've done the scans. Of course, we'll have to wait until then."

United came from behind to register a 3-2 victory over the Saints at Old Trafford.
