Project Restart: Manchester United's remaining 2019-20 Premier League fixtures

Ahead of the Premier League restart next week, Sports Mole looks at the remaining fixtures facing Champions-League-chasing Manchester United.

After putting together an 11-match unbeaten run in all competitions, Manchester United would have been more disappointed than most when football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will feel that his side can quickly pick up where they left off when a clash against Tottenham Hotspur, one of their rivals, in North London on June 19 represents their first game back in action.

Solskjaer is also able to call upon the services of Marcus Rashford, who had initially been ruled out until the closing weeks of the season with a back injury.

When United take to the pitch against Spurs, they will sit three points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea, aware that victory will be enough to move ahead of the Blues in the Premier League standings.

That clash is followed by a showdown versus Sheffield United, another team who are looking to edge out the Red Devils in the race for a Champions League place.

On paper, that double-header represents United's toughest period for the rest of the season, with six of their last seven games coming against opposition from the bottom half of the table.

With that match being against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on the final day of the campaign, it leaves United with six opportunities to accumulate points in contests that they will be expected to win.

Fixtures with Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are due to be played on away territory, while Bournemouth, Southampton and West Ham United are scheduled to make the trip to Old Trafford.
