Cristiano Ronaldo's record vs. West Ham United

Sports Mole looks at Cristiano Ronaldo's record against West Ham United ahead of Saturday's Premier League contest at Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to again lead the Manchester United line on Saturday, as the Red Devils welcome West Ham United to Old Trafford for a key top-four battle.

The Portugal international returned from a hip complaint against Brentford on Monday, playing 71 minutes of his side's 3-1 win over Thomas Frank's side in the Premier League.

Ronaldo showed his frustration at being withdrawn in the second period, but interim head coach Ralf Rangnick said that he was not prepared to take any chances when it came to the forward's fitness.

The 36-year-old has been in impressive scoring form for the Red Devils during the 2021-22 campaign, finding the back of the net on 14 occasions in 22 appearances in all competitions.

The forward has struck eight goals and registered three assists in 17 Premier League outings, meanwhile, and he will be determined to lead his side to another important three points against the Hammers.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Ronaldo has performed against West Ham in the past.

Ronaldo has faced West Ham on eight occasions during his professional career, with all eight of those matches coming in the Premier League, including the reverse league game at London Stadium back in September.

The attacker has a record of five wins and three defeats against the Hammers, scoring six goals and registering one assist in the process.

Ronaldo lost both Premier League games against the capital side during the 2006-07 campaign, including a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford, with Carlos Tevez hitting the winner for the visitors.

The forward scored three times and provided one assist in his two league fixtures against West Ham during the 2007-08 season but was on the end of a 2-1 loss at Upton Park.

The former Sporting Lisbon youngster also managed a brace against the Hammers during the 2008-09 season at Old Trafford, with his two goals helping the Red Devils record a 2-0 victory.

Ronaldo has won his last three games against West Ham, including the reverse game at London Stadium back in September, finding the back of the net in the 35th minute of the contest with David Moyes's side, before Jesse Lingard netted a late winner for the away side.

Having struck six goals in his last five Premier League games against the Hammers, the Portugal international should enter this weekend's contest full of confidence.

A record of three defeats from eight matches is high considering Ronaldo's glittering career, and top-four hopefuls West Ham have certainly improved since his first spell at Man United.

The forward has enjoyed his recent home league games against the Hammers, though, netting braces in his last two top-flight fixtures with the capital side at Old Trafford.
