Manchester United have confirmed that Luke Shaw has suffered a double leg break.
The United left-back left the field on a stretcher after suffering a serious injury in the first half of their 2-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday evening.
The Red Devils tweeted that initial fears had been confirmed and Shaw is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines once he has undergone surgery.
The club's official account tweeted: "Our thoughts go out to @LukeShaw23, who has suffered a double fracture of the leg. He will have an operation on his return to Manchester."
