John Giles: 'Louis van Gaal tactics awful to watch'

Former Manchester United player John Giles believes that his former side have no hope of success this season if Louis van Gaal persists with his current tactics.

Former Manchester United midfielder John Giles has stated his disdain for Manchester United's style of play under Louis van Gaal.

The Republic of Ireland legend believes that the Red Devils have no hope of success while the Dutchman perseveres with his current tactics.

"It is terrible to watch," Giles told Newstalk of United's brand of football, following their 0-0 Champions League home draw against PSV Eindhoven.

"I did not like watching it. The manager should have been encouraging his players to do the right things regardless of the score.

"He put Marouane Fellaini up front and started to bang it up. He is responsible for that. If that is his philosophy, I can't see any hope for United."

Van Gaal's side take on Leicester City in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday evening.
