Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal claims that there are similarities in the play of Jamie Vardy and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has claimed that there are similarities between Jamie Vardy and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Leicester City striker equalled the Dutchman's Premier League record by scoring in his 10th successive match in his side's victory over Newcastle United last week.

Vardy can break Van Nistelrooy's record against the Red Devils if he finds the net at the King Power Stadium later today, and Van Gaal has revealed that he sees similar traits in the two players.

"More or less, Van Nistelrooy is like Vardy," Van Gaal told reporters.

"He is highly concentrated to make goals and is always running in behind, so you can compare them."

Vardy is currently the leading marksman in the Premier League with 13 goals this season.
