Manchester City are close to agreeing a new contract with playmaker Kevin De Bruyne until 2025, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Kevin De Bruyne is reportedly very close to penning a new contract with Manchester City.

Talks over an extension between the club and the 29-year-old - who is representing himself in negotiations - are believed to have been ongoing for several weeks now.

De Bruyne was briefly linked with an exit when Man City were initially banned from European competition for two years - which was later overturned - and the playmaker has since been an integral part of Pep Guardiola's team once again this season.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between the two parties are progressing well and Man City are confident that a deal will be completed soon.

The ex-Chelsea man is reportedly ready to commit his future to the four-time Premier League champions until 2025, where he will pocket £300k per week at the Etihad Stadium.

De Bruyne has scored two goals and set up 11 more for City in the current campaign and is expected to start against his former employers Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
