Everton are reportedly interested in signing Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
The Toffees are understood to have been tracking the 21-year-old for a number of weeks and stepped up their interest recently by sending chief scout Martyn Glover out to watch him in action.
Manager Marco Silva is understood to want to bolster his midfield ranks after being left unimpressed by Morgan Schneiderlin and James McArthur, the latter of whom has struggled with injuries so far this season.
The Liverpool Echo reports that Silva and Marcel Brands have identified Ndombele as a possible target, although they are likely to face stiff competition for his signature.
Manchester City are one of a number of European clubs to have been linked with the France international, who is valued at around £40m.
Ndombele joined Lyon on a permanent deal for just €8m (£7.1m) during the summer, having initially signed on loan.
