Txiki Begiristain delighted with capture of full-back Danilo

Manchester City chief Txiki Begiristain claims that Danilo "has all the attributes to succeed" at his new club, having joined from Real Madrid on a five-year deal.

Manchester City director of football Txiki Begiristain has backed new signing Danilo to be a big hit at the Etihad Stadium after completing his move from Real Madrid.

The Brazil international completed a medical and put pen to paper on a five-year deal on Sunday morning, becoming the Citizens' fifth arrival of another a busy summer.

Danilo, also linked with a move to Chelsea earlier in the window, admitted upon joining City that working under boss Pep Guardiola was too much to turn down, and Begiristain believes that the club's latest recruit has all the qualities required to be a major success under the Catalan coach.

"He can operate in several different roles in both defence and midfield, increasing Pep's options ahead of the new season," he told City's official website. "We feel he has all the attributes needed to succeed at City and we look forward to helping him develop during his time here."

Danilo moved to Madrid from Porto for around £27m in 2015, going on to win one La Liga title, two Champions Leagues, a UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
