Manuel Pellegrini: 'My job is not in danger'

Manuel Pellegrini insists that his Manchester City job is not in danger.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that his job is not in danger ahead of their Champions League tie with Barcelona tomorrow evening.

City face an uphill battle to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, needing to overturn a 2-1 defeat from the first leg.

Pellegrini has come under scrutiny for a series of poor performances, most recently their 1-0 loss at Burnley at the weekend, but does not believe that he is close to being sacked.

Talking to reporters, the Chilean said: "I respect all opinion but I don't think my job is in danger at the moment.

"It's a very important game for me and for the club too. It will be very important for our team to try and prove that we are one of the best teams in Europe.

"I have one more year on my contract and I am confident I am going to finish it."

City welcome back Yaya Toure for tomorrow's match, after the Ivorian was suspended for the first leg three weeks ago.
