Manchester City reportedly feel that the Football Association have wrongly singled out midfielder Gareth Barry after he was hit with a one-match suspension.

Manchester City have reportedly sent a letter to the Football Association requesting that they clarify their reasons for issuing a one-match ban to midfielder Gareth Barry.

The England international has been suspended for one game for insulting fourth official Mark Clattenburg during last Sunday's Manchester derby, which ended in a 3-2 victory for Manchester United.

It is understood that while City have reluctantly accepted the sanction, the Premier League champions believe that Barry has been wrongly singled out, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Barry was also fined £8,000 for his behaviour.
