Pep Guardiola: 'I hope to manage national team'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says that he would like to coach a national team at a World Cup or European Championship in the future.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that he would like to coach at a World Cup or European Championship in the future.

Guardiola has enjoyed a glittering managerial career since ending his playing days, with seven league titles and two Champions League crowns among his achievements.

However, the Spaniard is yet to try his hand on the international scene and admits that he is interested in overseeing a national team later in his career.

The 47-year-old told HLN: "Doesn't every successful coach dream of training a national team? I want to be at a World Cup or European Championship once again, yes.

"For now, I want to stay where I am, but if someone makes me on offer in the future, I'm still young."

City are expected to announce that Guardiola has extended his contract at the Etihad Stadium in the near future.
