Roberto Mancini tells Joe Hart that only he will criticise the Manchester City players.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has warned goalkeeper Joe Hart of his criticism of the team following their Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

City led 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu with five minutes to go, only to lose 3-2 in their Group D opener after goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The England number one was visibly upset after the game and slammed his teammates for squandering the lead, however Mancini feels that Hart was out of line with his comments.

"If anyone should criticise the team, I should criticise the team, not Joe Hart," said Mancini.

"It is difficult not because we lost - we can lose against a side like Real Madrid - but because with four minutes to go it was 2-1.

"This is strange. I think we need to improve this situation. Sometimes we go too deep. We made some mistakes and I don't want us to continue defending like this."

City face Arsenal on Sunday in their next match.
