Frank Lampard: 'Manchester City will win the Champions League at some point'

Frank Lampard is confident that Manchester City will win the Champions League in the near future.

Frank Lampard is confident that Manchester City will win the Champions League at "some point" because they are building a team worthy of European glory.

The North-West outfit will have to get through Spanish giants Barcelona over two legs in order to reach the quarter-finals of the elite tournament.

Lampard clinched a winners' medal with Chelsea in 2012, but City are yet to reach that feat.

"This is a trophy every big club needs in their collection and the way City are heading it is one that will happen at some point," the Manchester Evening News quotes Lampard as saying.

"And these sorts of games are the ones you have to win if you are going to go on and win the competition. For me the Champions League is the best club competition in world football."

City will face Barca at the Etihad Stadium for the first leg next Tuesday.
