Lyon let Michel Bastos leave for Al-Ain

Brazil international Michel Bastos leaves Lyon to sign a three-year contract with United Arab Emirates side Al-Ain.

Brazilian winger Michel Bastos has ended a seven-year association with Ligue 1 today by joining United Arab Emirates side Al-Ain on a permanent deal.

Bastos spent the second half of last season on loan with Schalke after falling out with Lyon boss Remi Garde, but failed to earn a permanent contract at the Veltins Arena.

Lyon have allowed Bastos to leave the club after four years in Northern France, with the 30-year-old signing a three-year contract with Al-Ain.

During four seasons at the Stade Gerland, Bastos scored 35 goals in 141 appearances, while also winning the Coupe de France in 2011.

Bastos also has 10 caps for Brazil to his name, plus a sole international goal scored against Zimbabwe in 2010.
