Lorient have registered a 4-1 home win against Bastia to enhance their chances of finishing in the top four in Ligue 1 this season.
The hosts could have surged ahead as early as the second minute through Lamine Kone had he been able to keep his header from Yann Jouffre's delivery on target.
Moments later Benjamin Corgnet shot narrowly wide from a tight angle before Mohammed Abu saw his effort from outside the Bastia box saved by goalkeeper Mickael Landreau.
Bastia also had a chance of their own in the 14th minute when Fethi Harek tried to turn in Wahbi Khazri's corner from close range.
Chances dried up for both sides thereafter with the next real opportunity coming in the 38th minute for the hosts, Corgnet once again failing to keep his attempt on target after receiving another good Jouffre delivery.
Lorient's pressure eventually paid off in the first minute of the first-half injury time when Jouffre shot home from the left side of the Bastia box after being released by Maxime Barthelme.
Christian Gourcuff's side doubled their advantage 10 minutes into the second period through Corgnet, who found the target with his right foot from the centre of the box.
Anthony Modeste halved the deficit for Bastia just before the hour mark when he headed home Jerome Rothen's cross from just yards out.
However, Lorient wrapped up the points 15 minutes from time through Jeremie Aliadiere, who turned in Kevin Monnet-Paquet's cross with his right foot from just yards out.
Aliadiere himself added the icing on the cake seven minutes from time with his second goal of the evening, Jouffre once again at the heart of the attacking move.
