Xherdan Shaqiri is reportedly not expected to leave Liverpool this month as the Reds feel that their hands have been tied by the coronavirus pandemic.

Liverpool have reportedly accepted that they will not be able to offload Xherdan Shaqiri in the January transfer window.

The Switzerland international was widely expected to depart Anfield this month after struggling for appearances, starting just two games in all competitions this term.

However, Swiss outlet 4-4-2.ch claims that Liverpool feel their hands have been tied due to the coronavirus pandemic, with clubs unwilling to match their valuation.

Shaqiri is now expected to stay on Merseyside for the duration of 2020-21 and could be afforded more opportunities in the second half of the campaign.

Liverpool have had a quiet window so far, with boss Jurgen Klopp hinting last week that he is unlikely to bring in any new players before the window shuts on February 2.
